Taking Our Case to Beaumont Unified Parents

Next week we are going to begin taking our case to the parents of the Beaumont Unified Schools; starting with the schools that will be most directly impacted by the Gateway Warehouse Center. We will be handing out fliers and gathering signatures on a petition urging the Beaumont Unified School District to reconsider their decision to take no action as a united board to protest the development of a 2.5 million square foot warehouse park within a few miles of a number of our schools.

I will be working alongside volunteers from The No Way Gateway Committee to get the word out to Beaumont parents as they pick up their children from school next week. I have heard from many of you that you want to get involved now is the time we could use your help.

We will be meeting near a different school each afternoon. The time each day will be a little different depending on the release schedule of the school for that day. We will probably be starting between 2 PM and 3 PM each day and will only need your help for about an hour.

We are organizing a list of volunteers for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

If you can help, email me at OurFocusOurKids@gmail.com with which day(s) you are available. Please provide your email and the best phone number to reach you. If you are a parent and have kids to pick up, tell me which school so we can let you know when we will be at your school. We could really benefit by having parents familiar with the pickup processes helping us out, especially since every school has a different process.

So many people have told us they want to help but not everyone can attend the meetings in the evening because of other family obligations. And, most parents work and aren't able to take time off to attend a Tuesday morning County Supervisor meeting. If you already have to be at the school to get your kids, this will be a perfect time to do what you can to help us stop the industrialization of our community.

Thank you in advance for your support.
