There was a good turn out tonight at the Calimesa Council meeting.
I think we laid out our case pretty well. The council seemed receptive but made no comments.
I met the President of the Calimesa Chamber of Commerce, Donna Lotz. She offered to reach out to her members because she doesn't feel The Gateway Center is the best business for Calimesa and she thinks her members will agree. She also suggested they would work with Beaumont's Chamber against the Gateway project.
She also informed me about a Candidates Forum they are holding Wednesday night. The candidates for the District 23 State Senate seat, or their representative, will answer questions selected from the audience. This is the seat formerly held by Bill Emerson. She said there would be a good chance we could get the candidates' position on Gateway. I will attend this forum. I hope others will join me but we also need representation at the Yucaipa Valley Water District meeting being held on the same night.
All the details for both meetings can be found at: OurFocusOurKids.com on the "No Way Gateway" tab. If you are able to make it to either meeting, let me know. Please post your RSVP here or send me an email, OurFocusOurKids@gmail.com. Thank you
