What is the Definition of Immediate Family?

In an article in the Press Enterprise reporting about the claim of a conflict of interest in regards to Mrs. De Longchamp's brother, who is reported to be employed by Bogh Engineering, Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Kakish's response to the claim was reported like this:

Kakish cited a segment of the California government code that says a conflict of interest would exist if board members or their immediate families had a financial interest in the contract with Bogh. Immediate families are defined as spouses and dependent children.

I thought Mrs. Kakish could use some help with her definition of "Immediate Family". Below are some definitions I found. I'm not sure where she got her definition.

Look for a revision to the district's bylaws concerning conflict of interest.
