It's Time to Make a Difference

This Friday, October 1st, beginning at 6 pm at the Beaumont Civic Center, the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce will be presenting a local candidates forum.

Over the last 3 years I have been critical of the lack of leadership and oversight our board has been providing our schools and the administration. With three positions open on a five person board, the voters have an opportunity to make a real change in the direction our administrators will be taking our schools.

If you are frustrated, as I am, by the elimination of class size reduction, or the BUSD's refusal to institute a parent involvement policy as required by law, or the elimination of the GATE program; now is the time to make a difference.

If you think, as I do, the district's business strategy of deficit spending while waiting for the state and national governments to bail us out is misguided and harmful to our children, you need to get involved.

In order to get involved and make a difference, you need to know who the school board candidates are. How they want to lead our district and what they are going to do to improve our children's educational opportunities. You need to know what they think about the current administration and the relationship between the current board and the administration.

This Friday, October 1st, beginning at 6 pm at the Beaumont Civic Center, the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce will be presenting a local candidates forum. This will include candidates for the three open positions on the Beaumont School Board.

It's time to stop complaining and do something positive. Your children need you to stand up now and show them you care about their future. Take two hours out of your busy schedule Friday night and take an active role in the planning of your children's future.
