BUSD Administrators and Board Negotiate Contracts, Three Things To Watch

On Tuesday there was a special closed door school board meeting to discuss/negotiate the salary and compensation packages for the district's superintendent and assistant superintendents. There are three things I will be watching and commenting on.

Here they are:

  1. Will the administrators, who have been asking everyone else to make sacrifices and who have mortgaged our children's education to build a state of the art sports complex and a $4 million dollar new administrative building, be asking for a pay raise?
  2. Will the school board members, who have been cutting programs and services to our children while taking our tax money to build a state of the art sports complex and a $4 million dollar new administrative building be freezing the administrators' salary and compensation?
  3. Will the administrators and the board members enter into a multi-year contract months before 3/5 of the board is up for re-election?

Today I will be requesting, from the district, the current salary information for the administrators and after the new contracts are in place I'll compare and report any increases.

We have been hearing from all these people for several years about how how their focus is our kids, do they really mean it?
