Today, November 18th, is National Parental Involvement Day, but not in Beaumont

For the third year in a row, the district has ignored my request to recognize National Parental Involvement Day. I can't think of a better day to introduce Parent Involvement 101

I did a Google search using the following phrase: Title I Parental Involvement Policy. It returned hundreds of links. I spent about 20 minutes reviewing the links and have put together a Parent Involvement Policy primer.

I hope this helps Mrs. Lara and Dr. Latham understand how inadequate our district's policy is.

Parents will have one opportunity to convince the board their policy needs to be updated. I am looking for parents who will attend the board meeting if, and when, the board's policy comes up for discussion. If you are interested, let me know.

Parent Involvement 101

Let's begin with the current policy and a checklist to analyze the completeness of a policy.

California Dept of Education's documentation

No Child Left Behind Action Briefs

Finally look at these real life examples of Parent Involvement Policies to see how much ours can be improved.
