The board authorizes a reduction in compensation to trustees and district management...sort of.

In the June 9th board meeting, the trustees authorized the reduction of compensation to board trustees and administrators. The reduction in their compensation will be "comparable" to how much the teachers and classified employees agree to reduce their compensation. This move is part of the district's strategy to convince the teachers and classified employees to accept furlough days.

If both unions don't agree to a reduction in compensation, the trustees and administration will not be required to accept any reduction in pay. If the district was serious about making sacrifices to help cover the budget deficits, they wouldn't make their contribution contingent on everyone else making more sacrifices.

Here is another missed opportunity for our superintendent to show some leadership.
